| Notes (OpenBSD): | 1) with GENERIC.MP (both -STABLE and -CURRENT), X2100 will boot,
finish the init and then reboot within few minutes; sometimes, almost
instantly, other times after a few minutes. Seems to be related to MP
kernels. My first explanation was that this could be related to the
below message or general interrupt routning issues with MP kernels
and NVIDIA chipsets. BIOS revision was 1.0.9 (latest at the time)
ioapic0 at mainbus0 apid 2: pa 0xffff800003738f24, version 11, 24

ioapic0: misconfigured as apic 0
ioapic0: remapped to apic 2
ioapic0: conflicting map entries for pin 0
pci0 at mainbus0 bus 0: configuration mode 1
After some more testing/debugging, random reboots *sometimes*
disappear and the X2100 (both -STABLE and -CURRENT) seem to work just
fine. Kernels can be built, even a couple of "make build" runs can't
seem to provoke the random reboots.
Bug report:
http://cvs.openbsd.org/cgi-bin/query-pr-wrapper?full=yes&numbers=5111
UP kernels seem to work fine.
2) nfe(4) stops responding during stress-testing with netperf
(transmitter box, IBM e326m, bge0/gigabit)
(receiver box, Sun X2100, nfe0/gigabit)
(both connected to a Dell PowerConnect 2708 gigabit switch)
ssehic@e326m:/home/ssehic$ netperf -H x2100 -l 300 -- -s 64K -m 64K -M
64K -S 64K
TCP STREAM TEST to 192.168.0.61
Recv Send Send
Socket Socket Message Elapsed
Size Size Size Time Throughput
bytes bytes bytes secs. 10^6bits/sec
65536 65536 65536 300.01 936.58
(transmitter: 6K/interrupts seconds on bge0, 50% system idle)
(receiver: 83K/interrupts seconds on nfe0, 3% system idle)
All fine. Stress test runs for 300 seconds without a problem.
Now, we try the same test, but we increase the remote socket (nfe0)
send/recv buffer size to 256K.
ssehic@e326m:/home/ssehic$ netperf -H x2100 -l 300 -- -s 256K -m 64K
-M 64K -S 256K
(transmitter: 6K/interrupts seconds on bge0, 50% system idle)
(receiver: 100K/interrupts seconds on nfe0, 50% system idle)
nfe0 will stop responding after few seconds; tcpdump shows nothing;
ifconfig down/up doesn't help; only a reboot does.
