Installation - creating a Profense™ software appliance
Profense™ includes a secured operating system and can be installed on most
AMD64 and i386 compatible hardware platforms incl. virtual platforms.
For testing purposes, Profense™ can be installed on most PCs and VMware virtual platforms.
For production use, we recommend usage of a hardware platform which is tested
and approved by Armorlogic.
- If you have downloaded a Profense™ ISO-image, start with creating a
Profense™ CD-ROM from the image. The resulting CD-ROM is bootable.
If you are installing on a virtual platform you can probably skip
this step as you can mount the ISO-image directly.
- Boot the installation platform from the Profense™ CD-ROM or ISO-image.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Depending on the size of the harddisk you install on, the installation
usually takes between 5 and 15 minutes.
- When the installation is finished, the address and login credentials
for the web-based management interface are displayed at the screen.
Remember to note this information.
- Remove the CD-ROM from the CD-ROM drive and reboot the platform.

WMware ESX and ESXi
The ESX package is configured with a 40GB disk, 2 CPUs and 1GB of RAM. For production purposes we recommend configuring the allocated RAM to 4GB. If you have limited disk space install form scratch following the instructions below.
- Just unarchive the package you downloaded and import the virtual appliance on your ESX server.
Workstation and Player
The VMware Workstation Virtual Appliance is primarily intended for testing Profense™ on a PC running either VMware workstation or Player.
- Just unarchive the package you downloaded and then double click on the profense.vmx file.
Installing on VMware from scratch
- Create a virtual machine with at least 4GB RAM, 40GB (8GB for test) SCSI HD and 2 or more Ethernet controllers.
- Mount the included ISO image.
- Boot the installation platform from the Profense™ ISO-image.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
