It takes approximately 45 minutes of work to implement protection of the first web site including time to read "Getting Started" and the license agreement.
To implement web security for a web server follow the recipe below.
Prerequisites
- A server platform (virtual or physical) connected to the network.
- Rights to alter DNS or the network firewall configuration.
Implementing web security in 45 minutes
- Download and extract ISO image (1 min)
- Read Getting Started PDF (15 min)
- Read License agreement (10 min)
- Burn install CD from ISO image (3 min)
- Install Profense™ on server platform (5 min)
- Configure basic system settings (5 min)
- Create Proxy running in Auto mode for web site to protect (1 min)
- Configure firewall NAT or DNS to point web server address to Profense™ proxy (5 minutes)
From this point Profense™ will take over. Lean back and watch the policy evolve as Profense™ learns the website and web applications.
At first a general negative policy is enforced but as Profense™ maps a profile of the web
applications and the web site in general the policy becomes more specific and shift towards
a positive security model for specific applications.
Adding or altering web applications is not a problem as Profense™ Professional automatically adapts to changes.
